Google TV - Next step in World Domination

Google has slowly but surely gotten a foothold in all facets of our society, starting from a simple search engine, all the way to our phones, browsers, OS, internet advertisements, and the like. It seems that they are still not slowing down anytime soon. They are looking towards a new (or perhaps older horizon), the more antiquated media, Television.

The project, dubbed Google TV (I'm sure GTV is already taken somewhere), is a partnership between Sony, Intel, and Logitech to create a product that would enable TV goers to view popular internet content through their televisions. Very reminiscent of Apple TV, the Xbox 360, or the Playstation Platforms, it's definitely not uncharted territory to say the least.

The vague details of the project involve Logitech to create the peripherals, sources say likely to be a keyboard that doubles as a remote (or vice versa?), Intel to create the chips, and Sony assumed to be working on the hardware side to make a TV friendly with the Android platform. No details have yet been confirmed by any party as the matter is not yet public.

Analysts say that this is a sign of the continuing trend of internet connectivity from the computer to the TV, making the home media experience an all-in-one package. This would put them in direct competition with Apple yet again, in a direct confrontation with the Apple TV. Stay tuned for continued updates to this clash of corporate titans.
